Vail

Beaver Creek
Vail's quieter, more polished neighbor — escalators to the snow, a top-tier ski school, and the most genuinely luxurious base village on I-70.
Breckenridge
A real Victorian mining town with five peaks above it — the group-house capital of Colorado, walkable après, and big terrain for mixed abilities.
Keystone
Family headquarters: night skiing, wide cruisers, and easy logistics — often the right answer for multi-generational weeks.
Copper Mountain
Terrain naturally sorted by ability across the mountain — groups of very different skiers stay on the same hill without babysitting each other.
Winter Park
The Denver favorite — closest of the majors, with the seasonal Winter Park Express ski train from Union Station and serious bump skiing at Mary Jane.
Steamboat Springs
A working ranch town with famous Champagne Powder®, hot springs for recovery days, and the friendliest après in the state.
Telluride
The dramatic one: a historic box-canyon town, a free gondola linking town to Mountain Village, and scenery nowhere else matches. Harder to reach — worth it.
Crested Butte
The last great un-corporate-feeling ski town — legendary steeps, a painted Victorian main street, and no crowds worth mentioning.
Arapahoe Basin
"The Legend" — no village, no scene, just high-alpine terrain and one of the longest seasons in North America, often skiing into late spring.
